Congrats to Stephen Gallacher
Kingsfield GC star Stephen Gallacher was today celebrating the latest in a line of notable achievements - a place back in the top 100 of the world rankings.
The 35-year-old wasn't even in the top 400 at the start of the season following his enforced five-and-a-half month absence from the European Tour last year, but he was up to 108th going into The Open at St Andrews and a tie for 23rd there behind South African Louis Oosthuizen moved him up to 96th this morning, one ahead of former Open Champion Ben Curtis.
Gallacher is hoping this will confirm he's on his way to securing a place in the last major of the season, next month's USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Players in the top 100 get spots in that and, though the Linlithgow-based player isn't going to Sweden for this week's Scandinavian Masters, next week's Irish Open will give him another chance to continue his incredible run in the United States.
